As a physical education teacher and former daycare owner, tossed in with a side of parent, I feel I have much to say on this matter. But, if I said it all, you’d be running for the hills.  I had volunteered to write this for Connie and I had an idea where I wanted it to go.  And, then something happened, something that turned my story slightly, not much but a little.

So, exactly what is it that I’m thinking about? I know, as most many Americans do, the importance of physical activity and staying interested in physical activity way after we outgrow the games and sports of physical education class.  When we owned a daycare, my focus was on play, play, play and play some more.  And, while playing the teacher’s job was to find a way to weave in educational ideas without boring the children to tears.
