We’re already beginning to see spring and summer on the horizon and the days are getting longer, meaning the little ones can get outside and play. However, this also has the added issue of keeping your children out of the sun. Children are of course at risk between the hours of 10am and 4pm and should be adequately protected. So, how can we best ensure your children are minded from the joyous, but dangerous UV rays?
Sunhats for boys or girls can be bought from all retailers, with kids fashion brands offering some great designs. When deciding to make sure you choose a sun hat that covers not only the face, but also the ears; ears are often very prone to sunburn. Hats with a bow for tying under the chin are perfect for toddlers as they won’t get lost and stay in place. Try to get a cotton hat for coolness as they are more breathable than many other fabrics.
Cotton clothing is the perfect lightweight option for those warm summer days because, as previously mentioned, it’s breathable. This allows air to get in and around your little one’s body and ensure that any perspiration will evaporate and not cause irritation to the skin. If you are choosing colors in cotton, pick dark colors as they offer the very best protection from the heat, though they do attract it more than lighter colors.
Each of our little ones will probably take a dip this summer and so a swim suit is very likely needed. The rate they grow at means that last year’s more than likely won’t still fit.
Though a bikini can look cute – a full-on leg and top covering combo may be the best choice if they intend to play out in the sun for longer periods. Children need that sort of protection from the sun and companies such as Darcy Brown clothing provide such a covering in an attractive and also a functional, fashionable way.
Of course, clothing can’t always protect your children all the time from the sun, so you’ll have to get the sun lotion out. In the case of wearing kids clothing with lighter colors it’s still advisable to put on sun lotion below the clothing to protect completely. Arms and bare legs should also be looked after and protected them from sunlight.
Your little ones will probably be so delighted with the sunshine, they’ll be doing a lot of running about. In such cases remember to keep them hydrated. Dehydration can cause irritation, as well as more major health problems. So leave a drink at the ready for them for when they feel thirsty, but look out for them if they feel dizzy or feel unwell – they might just need to sit and drink for a while.
Finally, make sure your little one is protected from insects. By covering them up in their new summer kids clothes, you can be sure this will save a lot of hassles in this area. You may also need to use insect repellent to keep the creepy crawlies off.
